Pontiac Fiero – new leatherette seat skins

I spent that last 3 nights installing the new leatherette seat covers on my Fiero seats. The original seat skins were in great condition, but I need to change the colour of the seats because I am going in a different direction with the interior – the tan colour would not match the new interior.

The entire process was pretty straight forward – but time consuming. You have to put in a lot of “elbow grease” because of all the pulling and stretching. They use these metal hooks called “hog-rings” which hook and stretch the material at various points on the seat. They are really cool, but are a complete pain-the-arse to hook sometimes.

Overall, I’m totally blown away by the quality of the seats. Take a look at Mr. Mikes (the place I ordered the seat skins from) if you are interested: www.mrmikes.com

Also I am really glad that I did it myself, because I learned a lot about automotive upholstery.
