First, I made a cardboard mock-up to get the generic shape. I then transferred the shape to 18 gauge sheet metal, cut it out, and then I welded it into place.

I need to do a little more grinding and then it will be ready. I think I may use some fiberglass and/or bondo to really smooth things out. Even though you won’t even see this (which means I could just paint it and leave it rough), I’d rather make it look right. Personal preference I guess.

However, whatever I choose to do, the problem is solved. :)
