I just put the last coat on this morning, and they look great. I’m going to let them dry for another 24 hours before I put them back on the rear clip.
I took a little extra time today to sandblast the metal fastback parts from the rear clip. Once that was done, I painted them with 4 thin coats of primer. Tomorrow I will give them two coats of high gloss black paint and let them dry for 24 hours. So the conversion will have to […]
I removed the notchback clip, and the rear bumper today. I started around 12 p.m. and it only took about 2 hours to do. The hardest part in the whole process was removing the gas cap door – it was stuck to the rear clip with adhesive. Now with everything off, I can start cleaning. […]
Finally some progress on the interior. I spent about 5 hours tearing down the interior. There were A LOT of redundant wires in there from various electronic installations. Hopefully tomorrow I can start the fastback conversion.
I moved the Saturn out, and placed the Fiero at the centre of the garage. I now have room to work around the car. This will make the fastback conversion easier.
I spent over an hour cleaning up the fastback clip on the outside, and inside. It was dirty, but it was just dust. It is clean now. I pulled off all the metal parts. These will be sandblasted and repainted in a few days. If I get some time this weekend, I may do the […]
I have been looking at the parts I’ve acquired over the last year and a half, and I’m trying to think of the best way to approach the interior of the Fiero. The dash and the door panels will definitely be the hardest. But the seats and the headliner installation should be easier. I dunno. […]
Since I’m installing the 4″ LED tail light conversion on the Fiero, I will be losing the reverse lights. By law I am required to have them, so there is a small modification that you can do to get the reverse lights back: mount the lights in the bumper. I went to Princess Auto today […]
I have moved the rear fastback clip onto a bench in my basement, and I’m beginning to remove the quarter panel windows. Using a heat gun re-activates the double-side tape so removal is easier. However, from the picture below, they still like to crack when you remove them :S
These should be arriving within the next week or so. They have four 4″ LED (10 LEDs in each lens) lights with a fiberglass shell that replaces the entire GT tail light section. These will fit in nicely with the fastback conversion I am doing to the Fiero. When I install this, I will definitely […]
